This hotel has an amazing spa and gorgeous grounds. The pools are inviting. The staff was a delight. The rooms are rustic and the al fresco bathrooms are a really unique experience — and gorgeous. The rooms themselves could use an updating with more modern features. The food is pretty good, but choices are quite limited. There is not much to wander to off the property, so I’d recommend booking this hotel if all you want is a resort experience. The beach is far more beautiful in the pictures. It’s actually more of a lagoon with some pretty sand. The island across the lagoon that you can wade to is not very impressive, once you’re there. I would recommend choosing Borocay over Mactan Island, unless you are solely looking for a resort atmosphere and watersports.
