Pacquiao clobbers Margarito for eighth title

The legendary boxer squares off against Antonio Margarito in a highly anticipated battle at Cowboys Stadium.

Pacquiao won by the unanimous decision on one side in a blowout of the first seconds of the fight to capture the title of World Boxing Council super welterweight title before 41,734 in awe fans at the Cowboys Stadium.

Manny Pacquiao Wins Again

The best boxer in the world has won once again, as Manny Pacquiao put on a brilliant fighting display, defeating Antonio Margarito in dominant fashion on Saturday night in Dallas.

At the outset, it was impossible not to notice the significant size difference between the two: At 5-foot-11 Margarito is five inches taller than Pacquiao, and HBO said Margarito weighed 17 pounds more than Pacquiao when both stepped on the scale on Saturday night.

But once the action started, it was impossible not to notice the significant advantage in hand speed of Pacquiao: His punches were a blur, and Margarito was simply powerless to react.

Manny Pacquiao Win vs Clottey

Pacquiao earns 2 ESPY award nominations

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao again established his global popularity after being nominated in two major categories for the 2009 Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards or ESPY.

Nominees for the annual event organized by famed American cable television network ESPN had already been announced, and Pacquiao is among the prominent athletes in the list of the top personalities in the world of sports.

Pacquiao had been nominated twice – in the “Best Fighter” and “Best Play” categories.

The nomination came in the heels of Pacquiao’s earlier achievements as one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time Magazine and as a member of the richest athletes in the world today according to Forbes magazine.
