Puerto Galera and its diverse attractions

Puerto Galera is just a small tourist spot resort but the people there are nice and very accommodating to their visitors. It is located on the northern part of Oriental Mindoro. From Manila , it is about 130 kilometers going to the south.

Sabang beach and white beach are the two most popular beaches, where activities like swimming, camping, diving, scuba diving and other sports are very popular among tourists. Puerto Galera is also known for its world-class diving sites, but not to be overlooked are the dozens of beaches and bays, as well as waterfalls and mountains that this destination has to offer.

Sabang may not be ideal for swimming, but many restaurants, along with a variety of pubs, souvenir shops, dive shops and to compensate. From bar hopping is another favorite among tourists and locals during the night. To the west of Sabang are the beaches of small La Laguna and big La Laguna, which are ideal beaches for swimming, snorkeling and diving in crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. How to get to these beaches, usually takes 15 to 20 minutes walk from Sabang.

Other beaches include White Beach, Aninuan Beach, Talipanan Beach, Coco Beach and more than a dozen more. Maybe the trick to enjoying the beaches is to go to the beach jumping until you find one that suits your taste. A more relaxing quiet place can be found in small coves where there is less crowded or not at all. If you are an avid diver, then this is the place and will not disappoint. Other activities available include mountain trekking, checking the waterfalls, and enjoy the scenery.

Accommodation in Puerto Galera is relatively inexpensive and is ideal for budget travelers. There are also plenty of moms and pops type of accommodation and a decent meal in a restaurant is in the range 200-300 php per head. Outdoor bars, girly bars, and karaoke bars to fill the active nightlife, especially during the weekends in the drier parts of the year.
