La Mesa Ecopark – a sprawling 33 hectare, rehabilitated and renovated public park dedicated the La Mesa Watershed, the primary source of drinking water, the La Mesa Ecopark and its forest serve as the lungs of Metro Manila, providing it with clean air. It is located right outside the natural boundaries of the La Mesa Watershed and 40 meters below the reservoir.

It has a 5-hectare picnic ground complete with grilling facilities, the salt water swimming pool which uses salt granules instead of chlorine to make its water safer. There is a Superferry Boating lagoon, two hectares of flower terraces, an ecomuseum, butterfly trail and hatchery, overnight camping facilities and number of pavilion to choose from.

For the use its facilities, you help sustain the La Mesa Watershed project. You may even encourage your guest to make a donation to adapt a hectare, or take them for a tree-planting activity at one of La Mesa Ecopark nurseries, in exchange for a gift.

Park for a cause:

La Mesa Ecopark envisions a better environment for Filipino children. Their mission is to spread environmental awareness through education and advocacy.

It provides a venue for healthful outdoor recreation and a true forest experience. Students are encouraged to explore the last forest in the metro in order to learn more about what it is like to be part of an ecosystem. This is a living classroom and laboratory for environmental education.

It also aims to be a center for biodiversity conservation. All the proceeds from the park entrance fees is used for its upkeep and to preserve the natural beauty of the forest.

How to get there:

Head for Commonwealth Avenue, a.k.a. Don Mariano Marcos Ave. Pass Ever Gotesco mall then Sandiganbayan, until you reach Fairview. Go pass Fairview wet market. On your right, there will be a Mercury drug store, then a KFC store shortly after. When you get to Winston Street, make a right when you see a MetroBank and BPI across the street. Enter the East Fairview Village and just follow the signs leading to La Mesa Ecopark.
