Luzon is the largest and most economically and politically important island in the Philippines. Luzon as an island group includes the island of Luzon itself, plus the Batanes and Babuyan groups of islands to the north, and the main and outlying islands of Catanduanes, Marinduque, Masbate, Romblon, and Mindoro in the south. It is home to the capital city, Manila.

The Visayas or Visayan Islands and locally known as Kabisay-an, is one of the three principal geographical divisions of the Philippines, along with Mindanao and Luzon. It consists of several islands, primarily surrounding the Visayan Sea. Its population are referred to as the Visayans.

The major islands of the Visayas are Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, and Samar. The region may also include the islands of Romblon and Masbate whose population identified as Visayan.

It is also the name of one of the three island groups in the country, which consists of the island of Mindanao and smaller surrounding islands. The island of Mindanao is called The Land of Promise. Mindanao is the only area of the Philippines with a significant Muslim presence. A guerrilla war is ongoing on the islands. In addition the crime rate on the island is the highest in the country overall.

Of the 7,107 islands in the Philippines only 4,000 plus are inhibited as of today. Some small island is now inhibited due to the highest growth of Philippine population. Many of this island are not populated before because of no water supply.

Today, many businessman supply mineral water or bottled water into the islands for drinking. Some used motorized banca to transport gallons of water from the mainland to supply the island residence for their cooking used.
