Guyam Island, Surigao del Norte, Philippines
Guyam Island, Sirigao Del Norte, Philippines is located in front of General Luna Beach. It is an islet of finest white sand and several tall coconut trees. This island can be reached by a pump boat in less than 10 minutes from the mainland of Siargao. It has a view of the incredible powerful waves of Siargao Island. Near distance of the island, everyone can go surfing, water sports such as kayaking, scuba diving, among others.
Guyam Island is spelled as Guyang Island in some online databases. Try to imagine the typical tropical island with a grove of coconut trees and where people usually get stranded castaways. Well, it looks like a Guyam Island.
This uninhabited islet, about 150 meters in diameter, is not really an island one can get stranded on because it is located only 2 kms from the main island of Siargao, facing the town poblacion of General Luna. And it is around 10 minutes drive by pump boat. Some people in the mainland said the one can supposedly swim or walk to the island during low tide, and it is definitely only accessible by kayak.
Guyam island is surrounded by nice white sand (some say it is powdered, granulated while another account says grainy) and is a good place for a picnic during the day, to go diving, or simply to burn on the beach. The island also offers a beautiful view of the wild surfing waves whom Siargao is best known.
Although tiny, this small island has enough charm for an island lovers, and one bloggers even said Guyam island as one of his favorite islands in the Philippines.
