Rice Terraces In Luzon

By admin On June 20, 2011 No Comments

The mountainous provinces of northern Luzon in the Philippines are famed for their rice terraces, the steepest in the world, carved into the side of impossibly steep slopes. These terraces are irrigated by bamboo pipes and ingenious mud canals and, after over 2,000 years, have stood the test of time.

The Mansion Ruins In Bacolod

The Mansion Ruins in Talisay City, the structure of Italianate architecture with neo-Romanesque columns, having a very close semblance to the facade of Carnegie Hall in New York City. In New England, they often were homes to ship’s captains. A belvedere, facing west, affords a beautiful view of the sunset in a glassed-in sunroom with bay windows. The mansion was built in the early 1900’s by the sugar baron, Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson (1865-1948) and was home to his unmarried children with his first wife, Maria Braga (+1911), a Portuguese from Macau.

The mansion was the largest residential structure ever built at that time and had in it one of the finest furniture, chinaware, and decorative items, as the father of Maria Braga was the captain of a ship that sailed across Europe and Asia and would cart with him these items. One of their daughters maintained a beautiful garden

Danao Bohol’s Sui-Slide ZipLine Attraction

By admin On June 11, 2011 No Comments

Bohol has another tourist attraction. A 480 meter zip line called “Sui-Slide”. At an altitude of 200 meters, which is both the highest & the longest zip line in the Philippines. This is definitely an exciting zip line that shoots your adrenaline up in the air. I do not know why they called it “Sui-Slide”, but it is definitely rhymed with “suicide.” It would be a treat for extreme sports lovers.

The new attraction is part of the “Eco / Extreme Adventure Tour, with activities like rock climbing and kayaking, which is being promoted by the municipality of Danao, Bohol. It is definitely a welcome addition to the usual Bohol day tour.

To get there, you can arrange a shuttle service (van) or go to the integrated bus terminal (IBT) for a bus trip going to Danao.
