Surfer Echo to the rescue
When floods caused by tropical storm Ondoy hit his subdivision, actor Jericho Rosales decided to help out the best way he knew – by surfing.
It was about 4 p.m. on September 26 – the day the typhoon hit hardest – when Rosales received news that several people in Loyola Grand Villas (LGV) were already stuck on the upper floors of their homes.
LGV, an upscale subdivision adjacent to La Vista subdivision in Quezon City, is located at the border of Katipunan Avenue and Marikina City.

Even some celebrities felt the wrath of tropical storm 'Ondoy' as rising flood waters entered and ravaged their plush homes in Metro Manila.
Perhaps one of the most visible celebrities pleading for help is Cristine Reyes, who has been stranded along with her mother and younger brother on top of their two-storey home in Provident Village in Marikina City for almost nine hours as of 8 p.m. Saturday.
In a phone interview with GMA News' 24 Oras special coverage, Reyes pleaded for authorities to rescue them.

According to her, some rescuers had already passed through their village but were unable to reach them. She also said street signs in

In social media, a deluge of SOS messages
The reactions to the early Saturday morning rains started out innocently enough. There was the usual sigh of contentment at getting to sleep in on a cool rainy weekend. As the rains intensified, you can feel the distress pouring off status messages. “God, please make it stop raining.” Not long after, it was evident that we weren't just contending with the usual amount of rainfall; rain was crashing down on all of us and everyone was aghast at how the flood waters began to rise all over Metro Manila, swallowing up EDSA, Katipunan, and basically every place you can think of. When cries of help began issuing from everyone everywhere, that's when everyone stopped simply wringing their hands in despair and started to take action.
You have to be thankful for small miracles, one of them being the fact that the power lines didn't go down all over the city. Normally,
